CSOs, Media Form Coalition to Support Edo State Anti-Curruption Strategy.

Media and Civil Society stakeholders in Edo state have formed a coalition in a bid to effectively support  the actualization of the objectives of the Edo State Integrity and Accountability Strategy (EDSIAS) to promote transparency and accountability in governance. According to the stakeholders who were participants at a two-day Public Awareness Roundtable for media and civil society organizations on the EDSIAS, their resolve to champion advocacy for the enthronement  of transparency in the conduct of government business stemmed from their realization that unchecked corruption in the administration of public resources had over the years robbed the state and the Nigeria nation the needed  development. Ekpoma High Chief Flays Attempt to Balkanize Ambrose Alli University.

By Lucky Isibor An Ekpoma High Chief and business mogul, Chief Patrick Agbator has contemned in very high terms attempt to balkanize Ambrose Alli University AAU, Ekpoma by the Governor Godwin Obaseki led Edo State government,  claiming it is a veiled move to close down the institution. NNPC resolves fuel crisis, unexpected Queues

      By Ohiro Atakpu The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC Ltd) has taken quick and bold steps in addressing the problem of low quality Petroleum products  and unexpected queues, which was quickly withdrawn by its affiliates. Investigations showed that this followed a special directive from the CEO/ GMD of the NNPC, Dr. Mele Kyari to the MD of PPMC, Mallam Isiyaku Abdullahi to relocate to Lagos for the appropriate, final action on the problem.  It was also gathered that he  approved more trucks to bridge the supply gap. The MD PPMC’s relocation  to Lagos following the CEO’s directive was essentially to supervise the immediate withdrawal of  contaminated products from circulation and most importantly ensure it stabilizes fuel availability from the Lagos, Ogun  axis and other parts of the country. Police Arraigns Iyasere of Warri, Johnson Atseleghe Over Alleged Assault on Woman.

By Lucky Isibor The Police in Edo, on Monday, 7 February arraigned one Chief Johnson Atseleghe 'm'  54 years , the Iyesere of Warri,  before an Evbuoriaria Magistrates' court , in Benin City over  alleged assault on  an  an elderly woman. The defendant, Johnson Atseleghe, the Iyasere of Warri,  is being tried on a one  count charge of assault with charge No: MEN/204/c/2022           Grace Tietie, narrating her ordeal. Police Prosecutor,  N. A Ukpebor Esq . told the court that the defendant committed the offence   on the 31st of December, 2021 and 1st day of January, 2022  at Ologbo Community, Ikpoba-okha local government area , Edo State. ASUU Bemoans Rising Cost of Living as Members Groan Under Poor Salary, Welfare.

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) University of Benin Branch on Monday bemoaned the skyrocketing cost of basic goods and services in Nigeria saying that its members are groaning under the harsh economic situation just as the federal government continue to pay the university lecturers wages that cannot guarantee their existence amidst the deteriorating standard of living in the country.
