Edo 2024: Qualities That Stand (Dr)Dorry Okojie Out

Image
As Edo people begin the search for a successor to the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki in November, 2024, stakeholders in the Edo State project have started outlining the qualities and calibre of the person they would want for the occupier of the exalted office. Among such qualities are the persons' humane disposition and commitment to service , who will run the government with human face, a bridge between the youths and the elderly with enough energy to withstand the rigours of governance , ability to prudently manage the state's resources without dipping his hands into the Edo State public till, and a detribalised person who sees the whole Edo State as his home. After a cursory look at the qualities the people are looking out for in the next Governor of Edo State, one would be tempted to say that "Maybe the people took only the attributes inherent in (Dr) Dorry Afe Efosa Okojie to draft the qualities they require of the next occupant of Dennis Osadebey Aven

(DR) DORRY EFOSA OKOJIE, A NEW IDEA

Image
Why is Dorry Okojie in politics? How do Nigerians see politics and politicians?  Unarguably, some see politics as a game in which people go into for the pursuit and actualization of self- serving goals. That is merely putting it euphemistically.  In general sense, politics as a concept is broad. Here we are interrogating politics as it relates to a state of engagements and activities surrounding the acquisition of power. The centrality of power in politics and what is done with such power once acquired is the kernel of this treatise. As Dorry Okojie doubles down on his political engagements , what does he intend to do with power if the people, through the instrumentality of the ballot box, give it to him? Many Edo people, especially those who have been studying his steps and know where he is coming from, are convinced that the man Dorry represents a new force whose intention to be the next Governor of Edo is to unleash a new set of governance ideas on the State. As the

Edo2024: Beyond Social Media Razzmatazz

Image
One of the ways to measure a man's commitment to a project is the extent to which he is matching his words with actions. Intentions are very easy to declare even as words are so cheap to pour out. It is at the point of action, a man's seriousness is determined and ascertained. I have heard people complain about the deluge of declaration of intentions by increasing number of aspirants for Edo2024 . For them, it portrays unseriousness, especially from Edo Central, which , in harmony with the requirements of fairness, equity and justice, should produce the next Governor. My response has been that a clearcut dichotomy exists between fantasy and reality. Most of what I have been seeing have not gone beyond social media improbable mental images expressed in graphics by most aspirants. They are still working within the realm of fantasy. And the social media provides a fertile ground for the flourishing of fantasy and illusion. To our great relief and Glory to God, Dorry

WHY (Dr) EFOSA DORRY OKOJIE?

Image
The political twists in Edo today, as exemplified by recent electoral outcomes, impose on us profound obligation to be scrupulous in the choices we make, especially as it relates to who deserves to be backed in the next Governorship race for Osadebey Avenue. Of even greater consideration is the fact that the quest for fairness as plank for determining from which zone the next Governor comes from, will be much easier to attain when we can present an aspirant for whom integrity, capacity, leadership and passion for development , are a creed. Such person should be one whose personal qualities and attributes are attractive to the three Senatorial Districts or a person of cross- zonal political and ideological relevance. Against this backdrop, we are delighted to affirm that Dr Efosa Dorry Okojie is deserving of encouragement and support for the 2024 Edo guber contest. We arrived at this conclusions after a concerted search and a critical interrogation of his numerous en

Why Edo State Needs Dorry Okojie

Image
By Chris Akhabue No single senatorial district of Edo can singlehandedly win governorship election without the understanding and collaboration of the other districts. On the basis of equity and fairness, Edo Central is appealing to the consciences of the other zones for support. There is no doubt that this appeal is resonating well with political leaders and people of the three Senatorial Districts because there is a man with a pan- Edo agenda in the race. His messages and stance on issues are stripped of ethnic mindset/ mentality, but mounted on the need to widen the space of service delivery and all round development in a new Edo of our dream. His name is (Dr) Efosa Dorry Okojie We are optimistic that when it is time for fairness to smile, there will be a convergence of progressive forces, irrespective of political divide, around Dorry Okojie, whose depth of character, high sense of responsibility and preparedness to surpass previous efforts without ignoring continuit

Obaseki: Best Performing, But Misunderstood Governor - Aziegbemi.

This view held by many but given vent to by Edo state Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Tony Aziegbemi in a statement issued in Benin City to mark the 66th birthday celebration of the governor said Mr. Obaseki has displayed the highest level of knowledgeability about good governance when rated alongside his contemporary governors in Nigeria. "Governor Obaseki's knowledgability about governance today dwarfed those of his contemporaries, thus taking Edo state to twenty years and more far and above other states in Nigeria, no doubt then that Edo state government's policies have become a course of study for other states.” According to Dr. Aziegbemi, "within the space of six to seven years, Governor Obaseki has been able to redesign, modernize, and actualize with a touch of definite progression, the

Why Edo State Govt Can't Fix Federal Roads – Obaseki

Image
… laments FG not treating Edo People fairly By Lucky Isibor The governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has given reasons why his government cannot rehabilitate collapse portions of federal roads in the state. He said the confusing policies and procedures put in place by the Federal Government as regard repair of its (Federal Government) roads has made it difficult for any state government to embark on repair of federal roads. Obaseki who made this known Wednesday, 19 July when he paid a visit to the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council, Benin, lamented that as a Governor his legs and hands are tired as regards repair of federal roads.
