Edo State Govt. Orders Teachers to Resume School or Loose Salary.

By Lucky Isibor The Edo State govermenmet has ordered primary school teachers in the state to resume school Monday, 1st February and threatened loose of salary for defaulters. In a statement by the Secretary to the Edo State Govermenmet, Osarodion Ogie (Esq) urged parents to make their children available for school on the said date while urging the teachers who want to join the alleged sponsored strike to hand over school records and other govermenmet properties in their possession to the Education Secretary in their respective Local Government Areas. Late Eunice Osagiede's Children Launch Free Transport Service for School Children, Elderly.

In order to compliment the efforts of the Edo State government, Children of the late Eunice Gordon Osagiede, Monday launched a free transport service for school children and the elderly in the Edo state. The project which is meant to complement the efforts of the Edo State govermenmet is  named Eunice Gordon-Osagiede School Shuttle (EGOSS). An octagenarian, Solomon Idahosa, has appealed to the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II and the Edo State government to wade in and prevent the Enogie of Evboivbioba village in Oredo local government area of the state, HRH Edwin Aigbe Izevbokun and Osakpamwan Eriyo from taking over his land. Pa Idahosa said the duo's act is a pure violation of the Benin monarch's and the state government directive on the ban of the Community Development Association, CDA because the said parcel of land was earlier sold to him by the same traditional ruler in 2005. The right of passage for Chief (Mrs) Azilomen Odimo Udegbe of Ibore, Uneah in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State will commence on 15 January.  In a statement made available to journalists on activities lined up to give the centenarian a befiting burial and signed by the first son and Medical Director of Udegbe Medical Centre Uromi; Dr. Enaholo Odimo Udegbe states that her remains will depart Odomene Mortuary, Uromi for her home town, Ibore, Unea; Irrua in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State on 15 January at 10 am. According to the release, the body will be taken to Dr. Udegbe's compound at Ibore for lying in state after a flag stop at Pa. Udegbe's family compound same day. The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has hailed the ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on the certificate forgery case brought against him by the All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor, in a statement, said the judgement is a triumph of the rule of law and a testament to the fact that truth would prevail ultimately no matter how vehemently detractors push lies in the face of incontrovertible evidence describing the case as a needless attempt to undo the will of the people. Federal High Court Dismisses Certificate Forgery Case Against Obaseki.

The Federal High Court in Abuja, on Saturday, dismissed the certificate forgery case brought against Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State by the All Progressives Congress, APC, and one of  its members, Mr. Williams Edobor. The court, in a judgement that was delivered by the presiding judge, Hon. Justice Ahmed Mohammed, held that the Plaintiffs, failed to by way of credible evidence, discharge the burden of proof placed on them by the law. Justice Mohammed said there was no iota of evidence before the court to establish that Obaseki forged either his O’level certificate, HSC certificate or the degree certificate that was awarded to him in 1979 by the University of Ibadan. “None of the witnesses called by the Plaintiffs was able to prove that the certificate is forged. “In fact, the witnesses admitted that none of them visited the University of Ibadan to confirm the authenticity

An Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City, has held that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy-Governorship candidate, Audu Ganiyu Abudu, presented false information to INEC in his Form EC9 to enable him contest the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State.   The case was brought against Audu Ganiyu Abudu by the Plaintiff, Hon. Edo State has recorded five deaths and 113 recoveries from the second wave of coronavirus (COVID) pandemic since December 1, 2020, even as the state government intensifies effort to curb the spread of the virus. The Edo State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this in a briefing of the State’s Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) chaired by Governor Godwin Obaseki. According to him, “Edo State has recorded 234 cases of coronavirus since December 1, when the state government started tracking the second wave of the pandemic. In that time, the state government has had a fatality rate of 2 percent and a case positivity rate of 23.1 percent. “We have a total of 121 active cases, with 113 recoveries.
