PDP NEC Appoints Governor Godwin Obaseki Chairman of e-Registration Committee.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the People's Democratic Party, PDP has appointed Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki as the chairman in charge of the e-registration exercise of the party.  NEC made the appointment after receiving the reports on the e-registration of members by the National Working Committee (NWC) at an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the party held on Thursday, April 29, 2021.                 Mr. Godwin Obaseki                Governor of Edo State. Alleged Murder Trial of Atseleghe, 11 Others Adjoined to 26 May.

The presiding Judge of High Court of Justice, Criminal Court 4, Benin City, the Honourable Justice Mary Itsueli has adjourned the case of alleged conspiracy, kidnapping and murder of Mr. Sunny Etchie, the Okaighele of Kolokolo community in Ologbo dukedom against Chief Johnson Atselege, the Iyasere of Warri and 11 Others to 26th of May, 2021 for continuation of hearing. Before adjourning the case, counsel to the 1st Defendant, C. O. Okeke told the court that he received a telephone call from the Correctional Centre that the 1st Defendant is seriously sick and later told the court that the 1st Defendant again called only to complain to him that the prison staff left him behind while taking the other Defendants to court. In view of this development, the presiding Judge, Her Lordship, Hon. Justice Mary Ituseli thereafter adjourned the case to 26th May, 2021 for continuation of hearing. An Oredo Magistrate Court, sitting in Benin City has Remanded One Charles Amadasun ( m), 52, of no fix address for malicious damage   by forcibly entering the property of one Pastor Furstin Uwaibi, which is likely to cause breach of peace. Charles Amadasun who is being  arraigned on two count  charge No. MOR/74C/2021 for illegal trespass has  on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021 appeared before Magistrate Court 1, Benin City, Edo State. Amadasun is accused of forcibly entering the property of one Pastor Furstin Uwaibi situated at 23, Ihama Street, GRA, Benin City on April 18th, 2021 with intent to erect a building and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 81 of the Criminal Code Cap 48 Vol. 11 Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as applicable in Edo State. Ologbo Murder Trial: Two Additional Suspects to Be Arrained as Court Adjoins Sitting

A Benin Criminal High Court 4 has adjourned  the  criminal case against Austin Olokor  in the alleged  murder of Okuoimose Omorodion and Genesis Orji who were killed during the internal rancour in Ologbo community in Ikpoba/ Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The adjournment of the case followed information by the state prosecuting counsel that two additional suspects have been arrested by the police awaiting former arraignment and advice by the DPP.  The two arrested suspects are Isaiah Akpani and Sunday Bokiti Amama. The suspects were  arrested after  a year in hiding and remanded in prison custody.                            The state counsel informed the court  that the first suspect Austine Olukor was in the court and information at the disposal of the DPP showed that additional two suspects have been arrested and it will be proper to arraign all the suspects since the matter in contention is concerning the suspects. ANEEJ Enumerates Achievement of CASARN as Project Close Out.

Advocacy Core Group Decries Lack of Behavioural Change to Eradicate Malaria.

The Advocacy Core Group, an umbrella body of Civil Society Organisations with core thematic area in the health sector has decried the lack of behavioural change among the people to eradicate malaria in Edo State. According to the group, malaria still account for a greater percentage of hospital visits and loose of man hour as a result of ill health. The Advocacy Core Group made its findings known in a press statement to mark this year's "World Malaria Day",  which is celebrated annually on the 25th of April. By Ikhili Ebalu, Benin City   Justice G, Imadegbelo of the State Criminal High Court 2 has remanded 2 Suspects, Isaiah Akpani ‘m’,. 28yrs, Sunday Bokiti Amama’m’ 27yrs , who went into hiding in 2021 after the cold blooded murder of late Sunny Etchie, the Okaighele of Kolokolo in Ologbo DukeDom. Isaiah Akpani and Sunday Bokiti Amama were among the suspects that went into hiding after the murder of late Sunny Etchie last year . Both suspects were eventualy arrested after a year in hiding and brought to Court on motion exparte: B/ Co/ 6063/ 2021, pursuant to section 294 and 296 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Edo State 2016. Ologbo Murder Saga: Johnson Atseleghe, 11 Others Take Plea as Court Throws Out Preliminary Objection.

Justice Mary Itsueli has thrown out the preliminary objection in the murder trial of the Iyasere of Warri, Chief Johnson Atseleghe and eleven others; sitting revant sections of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) which states that rulings on all objections shall be delivered along with the judgement, and ordered the defendants to take their plea. Today's ruling is a reaffirmation of an earlier ruling delivered by the Hon. Justice Ohimai Ovbiagele, the former presiding judge in the trial for the alleged murder of Mr. Sunny Eichie, the Okaighele of Koloko community against Chief Johnson Atseleghe and 11 others. In her words, Justice Mary Ituseli said, "objections are not taken, defendants are hereby asked to enter their plea". Going further, Justice Ituehi added, "it will be proper to uphold the earlier reserved  ruling for their preliminary objection till when judgement date is ready

The Chief Responsibility Officer of Josemaria Escriva Foundation (JOSEF), Dr. Jude Obasanmi has appealed to the Edo State govermenmet to recruit more teachers into primary schools to meet Governor Obaseki's vision of totally revamping primary education in the state.
