The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has appointed two Special Advisers and forwarded the names of eleven commissioner-nominees to the Edo State House of Assembly for confirmation. In a statement, Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq., said the two Special Advisers are Crusoe Osagie, who has been appointed as Special Adviser, Media Projects and Sarah Esangbedo Ajose-Adeogun, who is Special Adviser, Strategy, Policy, Projects and Performance Management.                   Crusoe Osagie.     Special Adviser, Media Projects. Elders of Ubiaza Community in Ikpoba/ Okha Local Government Area of Edo State made the allegations at a press conference in Benin City yesterday. NJC Recommends Justice Acha, 6 Others as Chief Judges of States.

By Lucky Isibor. The National Judicial Council, NJC, has recommended the appointment of Hon Justice Joe Acha as Chief Judge of Edo State. The Council also recommended 5 others as heads of Courts in other states while 30 others as Judicial Officers to beef up judicial functions in some states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. The recommendation was made at the Council's 95th meeting held on September 15 & 16, 2021, where the  list of candidates presented by its Interview Committee recommended the 36 successful candidates to their respective state governors for appointment as Heads of Courts and other Judicial Officers in Nigeria.                   Hon. Injuction Retraining Edo State Govt. from Implementing Covid-19 Vaccination Policy Forged - Court

By Lucky Isibor The purported injuction from the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt restraining the Edo State government from implementing its Covid-19 vaccination policies in the state is said to have been forged as the court has no record of such order.  The discovery was made when the Fundamental Human Right case filed against the Edo State government in respect of COVID19 vaccination came up today 17/9/2021, before the Federal High Court, Port-Harcourt.  The Applicant, represented by Chief E.O Odey Esq, leading S.C Eziefule Esq, reported to court that the Edo State government has been disobeying the court's Order of injunction in the case. The Hon Judge denied making any order of injunction and then went through, reading aloud, the court's record but could not find any such order.  The Applicant's counsel insisted he has an enrolled order of injunction signed by the judge. UNIBEN Cancels Extra Charges on Late Payment of School Fees, Rescind Closure.

By Lucky Isibor. The authorities of the University of Benin has made a U- turn in its face-off with the students over its decision to charge N20, 000 for late payment of school fees. The authorities also rescinded their decision to close down the school just as the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Lilian Salami tendered an unreserved apology to the students. Following the Kidnap of an elder states and philanthropist in Edo State, Owere Dickson Imasogie and others kidnapped recently, a socio- solitical group, the New  Nigeria Initiative ( NNI ), has called on Edo State governor , Godwin Obaseki to urgently pass  the bill  on ban on Open Grazing in the State. LAND GRABBING: Alleged Forgery Case Against Lawyer, Uwangue and Another Suffers Further Set Back.

The case of alleged forgery of land documents prefered against a Benin based legal practitioner, Smart Agbonlahor Esq, Osaigbovo Uwangue and another at the Ogbeson Magistrate Court 2, Benin City by the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police, today suffered another set back as the matter was again adjoined at the instance of the presecution.  It would be recalled that when the case came up for hearing on the 24th of August, it was adjoined at the instance of the prosecution to the 13th of September, following the inability of the prosecution to provide the necessary documents to prove its case. NNPC N287bn Profit: Atedo Peterside Got it Wrong.

Edo University Commences Conversion Programme for HND Holders

The Edo State University, Uzairue has commenced a conversion programme for HND holders from polytechnics and monotonics who are desirous of acquiring first  degree in their choosen courses. The university which is situated in Edo north district of the state made the announcement via a newspaper advert where she calls for application. According to the advert, an applicant must be an HND holder from government approved polytechnic or monotechnic with upper credit. The applicants must have done the mandatory national youth service corps to be eligible for admission into the programme expected be a last for 24 months calendar. A group of church leaders in Edo State known as Consensus Christian Leaders Forum has dissociated the group, their churches and members from the press statement issued by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),  signed by its Edo State branch chairman, Bishop Oyonude Kure and broadcast on many channels in respect of the COVID-19 vaccination, wherein he directed all churches in the state to take the vaccine, assuring them of its safety and without any adverse effect on the human body.
