Nigerian Air Force to Partner Edo University in Equipment Maintenance

The Nigerian Air force has called for partnership with Edo University Iyamho to enable the institution use its wealth of experience in the field of engineering to maintain Air force equipment in order to have a better military.

The call was made by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar at a lecture he delivered during the rescheduled 4th Founder’s Day celebration of the university with the title: “The Nigerian Air Force Making Giant Strides In Keeping Nigeria Safe”.

Air Marshal Abubakar, while expatiating on the benefits of collaborating with the University to the military body during the meeting, which held virtually, with Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki in attendance, said the Nigerian Air force, now properly structured, especially with the acquisition of additional military hardware, enjoined the university to use its wealth of experience in the field of engineering to support the Air force in the maintenance of her equipment.

He also informed participants that crimes and other forms of insecurity including terrorism have been reduced as result of effective communication between the military and affected communities
The Air Chief also gave hint on  the existence of quick response units to counter insecurity and noted that several pilots including females are among air personnel recently trained in the various departments of the force to man strategic areas of need.

The Vice Chancellor, who appreciated all the relevant stakeholders for the feat attained in the continuation of academic activities despite the covid-19 pandemic, however expressed gladness that the Nigerian Airforce, in keeping with her mandate is playing her role effectively in the defence of the nation’s territorial integrity.

The Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), prof. Suleiman Bogoro, who chaired the event commended the University for putting in place such an architectural masterpiece.
The Former Pro Chancellor of the University, Emeritus Professor Thomas Audu, the Vice Chancellor, Adamawa State University and the Representative of the Director General, National Youth Service Corps gave their goodwill messages.

 The Chancellor of the University, Dr. Aderemi Makanjuola, Vice Chancellors of Universities, Commissioner for Police, Benue State Command were among dignitaries that graced the occasion.
The 4th founder’s day was originally scheduled to hold on the 23rd of March, this year but was postponed of the heat generated by the covid-19 outbreak.
