Clergy to Christians: Stand by Your Faith in Trial as Pat. Emeordi is Laid to Rest.
The parish priest of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Benin City, the very Rev. Fr. Palmar Ikpenmwosa has admonished Christians to always stand by their faith in moments of trial.
The clergy gave the admonishion Friday, 11 December in a homily at the funeral mass held in honour of Mrs. Patricia Okaiman Akhabue- Emeordi, a retired Assistant Corp Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC).
Father Palmer stressed that patience, perceiverance were the hallmarks of the eventful life of Patricia Okaiman Akhabue- Emeordi and thanked God for giving her the grace to overcome all the trials that came her way during her earthly sojourn.
"We thank God for the life our sister, Patricia led. We thank God for all that God used her to do on this planet Earth. We thank God for the men and women who were there for her, who supported her in her hours of trials.
"We thank God that she never lost her faith, rather went on and stood by her faith and we thank God who never disappointed her, who was always there for her".
In a tribute, Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi said the Corps will continue to remember Mrs. Patricia Akhabue- Emeordi for her sterling contributions which formed the part of the Corps' achievements.
In her tributes, her daughter, Barrister Isiawele Emmanuella Emeordi eulogised her mother for imbibiing in her the virtue of love and discipline adding that "the fear of hearing you shout always made me do the right things".
Born on 14 May, 1959, Patricia Akhabue- Emeordi studied History at the University of Lagos and graduated in 1982. She joined the Federal Road Safety Corps and rose to the rank of Assistant Corps Mashall. She held several command and staff positions in the organization and was the pioneer Head of Nigerian Road Safety Advisory Council (NARSAC).
She was a devout Catholic, a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Benin City and St. Finbar Catholic Church, Rayfield, Jos in Plateau State.
Her remains were later committed to mother Earth at her anscestral home at Idumebo, Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
