Edo Records 113 Recoveries, 5 Deaths Since COVID-19 Second Wave.

Edo State has recorded five deaths and 113 recoveries from the second wave of coronavirus (COVID) pandemic since December 1, 2020, even as the state government intensifies effort to curb the spread of the virus.

The Edo State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this in a briefing of the State’s Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) chaired by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

According to him, “Edo State has recorded 234 cases of coronavirus since December 1, when the state government started tracking the second wave of the pandemic. In that time, the state government has had a fatality rate of 2 percent and a case positivity rate of 23.1 percent.

“We have a total of 121 active cases, with 113 recoveries. Unfortunately, 5 persons have died from coronavirus since the second wave of the pandemic in the state.”

While noting that rate of positive cases since 1 January is worrisome, Dr. Obi urged residents to the second wave of the pandemic seriously and appealed for the observance of all safety protocols to be protected from the virus.


“Since January 1, 2021, we have recorded 46 positive cases. This is alarming. People must take personal responsibility to halt the spread of the pandemic. It is important to observe the safety protocols so as to protect yourself and your loved ones from the virus.”

He added that the state government is intensifying public enlightenment to get residents in the state to take the outbreak seriously and also to mobilise the public to observe precautionary health and safety guidelines to halt the spread of the virus.

Edo State Anti- Cultism Taskforce Arrests 11 Suspects, to Face Prosecution

The Edo State Special Anti-Cultism Task Force  on Wednesday in Benin City, the Edo State capital, paraded 11 persons suspected to be involved in cultitism in the State, pointing out that the operation that led to their arrest is giving effect to the attainment of the Edo State guidelines of zero tolerance for cults and cultism  related crimes in the state adding that more would be done within the ambit of the law to stamp out cultism from the state such that there would not be any hiding place for cultists in the state. Edo 2024: Consensus Christian Leaders Forum Holds Prayer Session

By Lucky Isibor Ahead the Edo State 2024 governorship election, the Consensus Christian Leaders Forum (CCLF) is to hold a prayer session on Saturday, 10 February to seek the face of God to lead Edo people aright to choose a God fearing Governor on 21 September.
