It was glitz amidst panache at Emuhi, Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State when Mr. Ben. Ikiseh alongside his lovely wife, Mrs. Dora Ikiseh buried his father-in-law, Henry Aigbe Airiavbere, AKA Elimin-Udo; Friday, 12 February and Saturday, 13 February.
The matriarch of the famous Airiavbere family of Emuhi, Ekpoma, Henry Aigbe Airiavbere died in October 2020.
His remains were committed to mother Earth on Friday, 12 February after a funeral service at the Anglican Church, Ebhojie, Emuhi Ekpoma.
Family rites which were held at the deceased's country home preceded the church service and interment.
Family members, friends and well wishers were entertained.
Friends of Been Ikiseh who accompanied him and his wife to give his father -in-law a befitting burial again converged on the Airiavbere family house Saturday, 13 February with family members and friends to continue the entertainment stanza of the rite of passage of Elimin-Udo as he was called by everyone in the community.
Guests were lavishly entertained as the children alongside their friends danced to melodious tunes supplied by a live band.
The late Henry Aigbe Airiavbere was born in 1938.
He attended the famous Western Boys' High School, Benin City where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate in 1962.
After his secondary education, he joined the the then Electricity Corporation of Nigeria, ECN, the precussor of the defunct National Electric Power Authority, NEPA.
After a brief stint with the electricity giant in Lagos, Airiavbere relocated to Midwestern State to establish his personal business in the timber and logging sub sector of the economy.
He retired home later in the late seventies to care for his family and engage in community development.
He got into politics with the formation of the defunct Fouth Dimension with the late Admiral Augustus Aikhonmun which later fused with the defunct All People's Party, APP to form All Nigeria People's Party, ANPP.
Unrepentantly fearless, bold and courageous, Henry Airiavbere was a foundation member of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and later the All Progressives Congress,APC.
He was a member of the board of Edo Broadcasting Service, EBS during the administration of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
He's survived by children, grand children, brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces.
