The chairman of the Edo State chapter of the Action Alliance (A A), Engr. Isreal Guobadia has called on Governor Godwin Obaseki to conduct a free, fare and credible Local Government election in the state as the tenure of the incumbent chairmen wind to it's terminal end.

Engr. Guobadia stated this in Benin City last Saturday while receiving over 1000 members of the Accord Party (AP) who defected to the AA.
The chairman pointed out that the defection will rejuvenate the party just as he assured the new members of AA that that their polical aspirations will be met in the party.

“We welcome the defectors with open hands. Before today, we have known one another on the field. We  know their pedigree, their strength, and doggedness.

“Having come to join us, we are very happy. Their defection to AA will double the strength with robust ideas. The defectors have come to a party where their voices would be heard and political aspirations would be met in the party that is transparent and operate as a family. They did not make any mistake,” he stated.

Speaking earlier, chairman of Accord Party (AP) in Oredo Local Government Area of the State, Mr. Oviasu Ehigiator, who led the defectors accused the leadership of his former party of extorting  members of the party in the name of empowerment using non-existent bank loan as bait before last the September governorship election in the state which turned out to be a scam.

“As I speak with you, I have the Chairmen of 11 wards of AP and over a thousand supporters on my side.

“After some turbulent moments, I took a resolution to leave AP in droves to realise our potentials and not to ruin our political career

“I took time to investigate the allegation and discovered that it was a sham when I got to Ekpoma in Edo State. Thereafter, informed the leadership of AP about my plans to leave the party”, he said.

Addressing news men, Mr. Johnson Obasogie, Vice Chairman of AP in Oredo Local Government Area who's from Ward 3, and Mrs. Josephine Momodu, Women Leader of AA, in Oredo Local Government Area of the State, vowed to work for the unity and progress of Action Alliance for victory in future elections.

According to Mrs. Momodu, “We have come to join AA and I am coming with my women. We are coming with full force to join hands with the party. And I assure you, there is no going back and we will get there”.
