Murder Of Sunny Etchie: 2 Suspects Remanded In Prison Custody.



 

Case Adjourned To 14th May 2021.

Justice G, Imadegbelo of the State Criminal High Court 2 has remanded 2 Suspects, Isaiah Akpani ‘m’,. 28yrs, Sunday Bokiti Amama’m’ 27yrs , who went into hiding in 2021 after the cold blooded murder of late Sunny Etchie, the Okaighele of Kolokolo in Ologbo DukeDom.

Isaiah Akpani and Sunday Bokiti Amama were among the suspects that went into hiding after the murder of late Sunny Etchie last year .

Both suspects were eventualy arrested after a year in hiding and brought to Court on motion exparte: B/ Co/ 6063/ 2021, pursuant to section 294 and 296 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Edo State 2016.


Both suspects were arraigned for the kiddnaping , murder of the late Sunny Etchie, Okaighele of Kolokolo in Ologbo DukeDom, an offence punisable under section 516 of the criminal code Act, Cap ( 38, law of Federation of Nigeria 2004.)


 
When the matter came up today for hearing, the State Counsel,Police proscutor , P. O. Odion Esq informed the court that the Director of Public Proscution( DPP), advice is being awaited.

Based on this, the Presiding judge, Honourable Justice G . Imadegbelo adjourned the case to the 14th of May 2021 pending legal advice from DPP.

Speaking with newsmen, Barrister Emmanuel Idahosa counsel to late Sunny Etchie family, said the DPP advise is not yet ready, and based on the exparte motion, there is need for further remand in prison custody, pending the advice. The case file have been sent to DPP for legal advice, in the interim the case have been adjourned to 14th of May 2021, pending the legal advice, he concluded.

Already, one Chief Johnson Atseleghe and eleven others are facing murder charge in Edo State Criminal Court 4 presided over by Hon. Justice Mary Itsueli for the alleged murder of Sunny Etchie.
