Enogie of Ukhuri Warns Youths Against Land Grabbing, Transactions.

The Enogie of Ukhuri, His Royal Highness (HRH) Godwin Aigbe (Esq.) has warned youths in Ukhiri to steer clear of land transactions in the area saying the Benin native laws and customs does not vest land issues in them.

The Enogie who gave the warning while addressing elders and youths at an enlarged meeting of Ukhuri village intimated the people of the new Private Property Protection Law that has just been put in place by the Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration of Edo State. He that the Governor Godwin Obaseki has zero tolerance for land grabbing and urge people to steer clear of such evil.

"Looking at the present administration, it will be stupid for any person to break the law. The government of Governor Godwin Obaseki doesn't have sympathy for any person that breaks the law", he said.


While reinterating that sales of land in Benin kingdom is not the responsibility of the youths, Enogie Aigbe counselled the Okaighele of Ukhiri to always take instructions from the Odionwele, members of the Elders Council of Elders Council or any committee set up by the Enogie adding that he should resfrain from land transaction. 

The Duke of Ukhiri Dukedom briefed the people of the committee set up to map out new layout at Ukhiri village noting that the committee has started their assignment and employed the services of a reknown land surveyor to ensure that all extant town planning regulations are complied with in mapping out the new layout.

While assuring that all indegenes of Ukhiri will be allocated plots of land for their person use, the Enogie urged the village secretary to compile a list of all families in village, while the families will in turn compile the list of all their members for onward transmission to the Enogie's palace to form the list of beneficiaries of the land allocation. He enjoined family heads to include all the women who are Ukhiri extraction on their so that will also benefit from the land allocation warning that the women will not be discriminated against in the excercise.

Also speaking, an elder of the village, Elder Goodluck Okhuaroboh urged the youths to ensure they don't have anything to do with land transaction in Ukhiri so as not to drag the name of village in the mud. He said the new Private Property Protection Law was carefully crafted by the present administration after studying the pitifals of the law passed in 2017 adding that the state government is very serious about executing the law.

Also speaking, an illustrous son of Ukhiri, Mr. Nosayaba Ogbeide, urged the people of Ukhiri to hearken to the counsel of the Enogie, HRH Godwin Aigbe by refraining from land grabbing adding that they should forge unity in all they do, eschew bitterness and back stabbing among themselves.
