Josemaria Escriva Foundation Tasks Parents on Immunization of Children.

The Chief Responsibility Officer of Josemaria Escriva Foundation, Ekpoma, Dr. Jude Obasanmi has appealed to parents to avail their children between the age of 0- 15 months of Immunization to save them from early childhood deseases.

Obasanmi made the call Wednesday, 27 April during a community health sensitisation conducted by Josemaria Escriva Foundation, Ekpoma in collaboration with the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) chapter of the Technical Office of Child Health and Nutrition (NIMSA).
While emphasising the importance of immunization, Obasanmi noted that the community health sensitisation programme was to raise public awareness on how timely and proper immunisation saves lives.
"The objective of the sensitisation programme is to raise public awareness on how timely and proper Immunisation saves lives", Obasanmi noted.

Also speaking during the sensitisation campaign, the team leader of the Technical Office on Child Health and Nutrition, Miss Venice Arebun urged parents to ensure that their children in the age brackets of 0-15 months are presented for routine immunisation which according to her is free.
During the enlightenment, the team observed that most of the people shy away from Immunisation as a result of some myths and superstitions about it such as that immunization results in stunted growth, body pains and infant mortality amongst others.
The organisers also appealed to government at all levels to ensure that more children are immunised and called for improved awareness on the Importance of Immunisation.
