Gospel Defenders Ministries to Establish Old People's Home, IDP Camp at Eguare-Emu.

The Gospel Defenders Ministries Int. Inc. has concluded plans to establish an Old People's Home and Internally Displaced Persons camp at Eguare-Emu in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The centre which will be housing old people, homeless widows and Internally Displaced Persons will have recreational facilities to care for the elderly.
According to Archbishop Fred Aghedo, the General Overseer of Gospel Defenders Ministries Int.Inc.
who disclosed this to Merit News in Benin said the ground braking ceremony of the Old People's Home and IDP camp will take place on 25 June at Eguare-Emu in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
While frawning at the way some family treat the elderly, widows and the conditions that predispose people to become internally displaced, Archbishop Aghedo said, "the proposed old people's home and IDP camp is structured to house the elderly, homeless widows and Internally Displaced Persons camp will consist of a multi-residence housing facility intended for the elderly, widows and IDPs. Each person in the home is expected to have an apartment-style room or suite of rooms.
"Additional facilities will be provided within the complex which will include facilities for meals, gatherings, recreation activities, and some form of health or hospital care.
"In addition to the health care facilities, we shall also be providing memory care facilities and means for children in the IDP to get basic education.
To ensure the old people in the home are properly grounded in memory care activities that Keep senior citizens active and engaged, we shall be engaging the services of trained geriatric care managers to give them companionship and emergency support services should the need arise. These geriatric care managers will be trained from time to time to keep track with global best practices in careing for the elderly.
Facilities will also be provided for sensory therapy, gardening, movie nights, arts and crafts, brain games, storytelling, and social activities.
"Arrangements will be made to admit some elderly who will prefer to spend only the day in the old people's home to kill boredom and loneliness. This category of old people would be coming from home, given the desired care during the day and retire home at dusk to be with their family members and loved ones. They will also be involved in the activities enumerated above."
