Sanitise Politics, Archbishop Aghedo Urges Christians
By Lucky Isibor
Christians have been admonished to go into politics and sanitise the Nigerian political arena as the 2023 general elections approaches.
The spiritual leader and founder of Gospel Defenders Ministries Int, Archbishop Fred Aghedo made the call at an interdenominational prayer session organised by the Consensus Christian Leaders Forum held at the Gospel Defenders Ministries, Ikpoba Hill on Saturday, 24 September to intercede for the nation ahead the 2023 general elections. He urged Christians not to sit on the fence in the coming elections and appealed to church leaders to use their pulpits to tell members of their congratulations the mind of God regarding the 2023 general elections.
Archbishop Aghedo said the prayer session was organised by church leaders, church founders, prophets and prophetesses to seek God's direction ahead the 2023 general elections, noting that God has spoken loud and clear and urged Nigerians to resist the evil spirit of hunger, long throat and the urge to eat today and forget tomorrow and resist the antics of politicians and vote the right persons in 2023.
According to him, "pastors must pray for our nation. The pastors must preach it on the pulpit, the church must be involved in the politics of today.
"We must not sit on the fence thinking politics is a dirty game, somebody needs to clean it up. So we are telling pastors, church founders, prophets and prophetesses, they should go out and speak the mind of God to the people because the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.
"If we begin to tell the politicians what God is saying, some how the fear of God will begin to come into their mind. So we want all churches to take it to their pulpits and preach the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
"Nigeria has been dragged into terrible hunger that the spirit of hunger, long throat, wanting to eat today but forgetting tomorrow have taken over our nation. We say right now, resist the devil, resist the hunger like Jesus Christ deed who said though he's hungry he's not desperate because tomorrow shall be better than today. I tell everybody to resist the politicians now, let's try another way we've never tried before; let's try other hands that we have not tried before."
Also speaking, Bishop Andrew Ejenaha urged youths to vote the right people. He pointed out that this is the time for the men, women, boys and girls to choose their own leaders admonishing them not to allow anyone to chose for them in the 2023 general elections.
While telling them what to look out for in the politicians that are contesting the elections, Bishop Ejenaha said: "Am advising the youths to vote for the right people. Men, women, boys and girls we need to choose our own, the ones we know can redeem us.
"We are going to judge them according to their works, according to the number of houses they have, according to the number of cars they're driving, according to the number of luxury things they possess. They can't dodge it, let them prove to us what they have done."
