PDP Blasts APC Over Ewu Gunshots, Death
By Lucky Isibor
The Edo State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has condemned in very strong terms a statement purportedly issued by the Edo Central Campaign Council of the APC alleging that the shooting at Ewu on Wednesday, 17 January took place at the PDP campaign ground stating that the shooting took place outside Its campaign venue.
The PDP which stated it's position in a statement described the APC' statement as a twisted narrative and called on security agencies to investigate the incident with a view to unraveling those behind the shoot out.
According to the statement, "The attention of the Edo Central People's Democratic party (PDP) Campaign Council has been drawn to a Statement purportedly issued by the inept Edo Central All Progressive Congress (APC) over yesterday's happenings at ward 7 in Esan central local government area.
While the PDP campaign Council states unequivocally that the incident did not take place at the venue of the campaign but nearby, we are suprised however at the twisted narrative of the Edo Central APC to the incident.
As a Peace loving political organization, we decided not to allow ourselves to be drawn into any diatribe with the APC. However, we call on all security agencies to look into the incident as it seems the adage, the witch cried yesterday, the child died this morning is coming to play in this happening.
While we have placed our campaign rally on hold to mourn the dead, we appeal to relevant security agencies to come to our aid as the failed APC has an agenda of mayhem and bloodshed".
While calling on it's members and supporters to remain calm the statement emphasised that the PDP remains a better alternative as the APC has failed to meet yearnings and aspiration of Nigerians.
"The PDP still remain a better alternative considering the abysmal failure of the APC to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
"Being not oblivious of the APC's antecedents in the state, we therefore appeal to our members and supporters to remain calm as security agencies have commenced investigations to get to the root of this unfortunate incident".
