Release Funds for Benin-Auchi Road, Ekpoma Stakeholders Beg FG

Concerned Ekpoma Eminent Stakeholders Forum  (CEESF) has appealed to the Ministers of Works and that of Finance, Budget and National Planning to release the funds for the rehabilitation of the Okene-Auchi, Auchi-Ehor and Ehor-Benin sections of the Benin-Abuja express way.

In the letter, the CEESF drew the attention of the ministers to the impending rains which will commence in a matter of weeks and appealed for speedy release of funds to contractors as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The letter titled, "An appeal for the quick release of funds to contractors to commence repair of the Okene-Auchi-Ehor and Ehor-Benin express way", and signed by the Convener of  Concerned Ekpoma Eminent Stakeholders Forum, Dr. Jude Obasanmi and Secretary, Comr. Lawrence Isiriaojie said, "Hon. Minister sir, while we are still basking in the euphoria of the news of the approval by President  Muhammadu Buhari for repairs of the  Okene-Auchi, Auchi-Ehor and Ehor-Benin express way, we are writing to inform the Hon. Minister that the rains would soon start and we are yet to see action matched with words.

"However, we want to appeal to the Hon. Minister, to please use his good office to facilitate the quick release of funds to the contractors so that work can commence in the sections approved by Mr. President for repairs. 
"Sir, we count on your positive disposition to our plight. 
Please, accept the assurances of our highest regard as we await your kind support to  our request".

Recall  that President Muhammadu Buhari had in January, approved  N75b  for the reconstruction of three sections of the road thus: Okene- Auchi, Auchi -Ehor and Ehor- Benin at the cost of 25 billion naira each. 

The approval was captured in the memo for the reconstruction of select federal roads under the Federal Government Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishing Investment Tax Credit Scheme Phase 2 by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.
