Dorry Okojie, The Beautiful Bride for Edo 2024

That quotation by the Indian writer and philanthropist, Rohini Nilekani captures the essence of the meticulous search for a responsible leader in a polity, a leader who will truly lead the people, meet their aspirations and be accountable to them.

As the 2024 Edo State governorship election approaches, it has become imperative that the people now narrow down their search for a reliable successor to the incumbent Governor in 2024, sift the wheat from the chaff and zero in, on a particular individual with impeachable character, earlier than expected. This is because what becomes of the state after that election will be determined to a large extent by the choice the people will make during that election. If the people get the recruitment of the Governor right, more than ninety percent of the challenges confronting the state would have been resolved in their favour.

It is against this background I want to appreciate the progressive elements in the Edo State chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, All Progressives Congress APC,  Labour Party LP and the other political parties for the enthusiasm they have expressed thus far in the call on Dr. Dorry Afe Efosa Okojie to contest the Edo 2024 governorship election. The acceptance of Dr. Dorry Okojie across party divide is a demonstration of the resolve of Edo people to enthrone a servant leader as Governor come 2024. It shows that Edo people truly yearn for a pan-Edo leader who will not only unite Edo people as a people of a common ancestry, but one who will meet their aspirations and project them into the bright future they desire. 

There are indications that these progressive elements in the PDP, APC, LP and other parties in Edo State want Dorry Okojie to fly their flag in the 2024  Edo State governorship election, or move with him to which ever platform he will be accommodated as a gubernatorial candidate. 

These party members are apprehensive that their party's participation in the Edo State 2024 gubernatorial race as opponent of Dorry Okojie may be a mere exercise to prove their existence as the coalition working for him is too formidable, reliable and people centric to fail at the polls. They also Dorry Okojie as a purveyor of good governance who will make success of Edo State government the way he's made success in his private businesses.

As all the political parties in Edo State are wooing Dr. Dorry Afe Afe Efosa Okojie to their platform preparatory to the 2024 gubernatorial duel, it is imperative to remind the people that it is not the hood that makes the monk, that he will turn out a good Governor irrespective of the political platform he would contest and they should avail him their support as the challenges confronting us as a people is party blind.

As we crave good governance for our consumption, let us be co-creator of good governance by investing in an individual who will be able to deliver this good governance to us.

Oshiomhole's Claim of Disqualification of Ighodalo, Treasonable Offence - PDP

The Ause/Ogie Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as treasonable offence, claims of the former governor of EDO State and now Senator Adams Oshiomhole of the APC that Ighodalo is not a candidate of PDP in the Governorship election of Edo State scheduled for September 21, laying claims to the judgement of the Federal High Court in Abuja. The Deputy Director of strategic communications of the campaign council, Dr. Pedro Obaseki stated this at an interactive session with journalists at the state secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, we cqEdo State. FG Approves New Whistleblower Protection Bill

This was one of the memos presented to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) by the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning Wednesday, 14 December. The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Dr. Zainab Ahmed, who disclosed this to State House Correspondents after the week’s Council meeting, chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, lamented that the existing whistle-blowing policy launched on December 21, 2016 was losing momentum.
