BSM Condemns Adoption of Governorship Aspirants By Benin Development Union

A Benin social cultural organisation, the Benin Solidarity Movement BSM World Wide has condemned the adoption of four persons as candidates ahead the Edo State 2024 governorship election by the Benin Development Union, describing the action as a means of swindling the persons so adopted just it described the Benin Development Union as unknown to the Benin people and therefore lacks the legitimacy to make political choices for the people of Benin Kingdom.

In a press statement signed by Elder Comrade Curtis Ugbo and Mrs Eseohe Adun, the President and Acting Secretary General of Benin Solidarity Movement respectively, quarried the rational behind the choice of the individuals.

According to the statement, "The attention of the Benin Solidarity Movement BSM Worldwide has been drawn to an unscrupulous publication by some political jobbers under an amorphous organisation by the name Benin Development Union (BEDU), signed by one Arumwense J. Aiyudibie, nominating four persons, namely, Engr. Chris Osa Ogiemwonyi, Barr. Osarodion Ogie, Mr. Erhabor Emokpae, and Dr. Solomon Iyobosa Edebiri MON, as their Benin candidates for the forthcoming 2024 Edo State Governorship Election. 

"We want to use this medium to sound a note of warning to whoever it is that signed that press release and to state categorically that they are not known to the Benin people and that they do not have any authority to channel the political direction for the Benins in the Kingdom; especially as the full nativity of Benin Kingdom of some of the names mentioned in their press statement are doubtful".

The statement further tasked the Benin Development Union to collaborate with those they penciled down for adoption for the governorship election to answer certain questions the BSM said were agitating the minds of Benin people for some time now.

"We urge them to provide answers to a few questions as indicated below:

"Where were their voice when some unscrupulous elements in the helm of affairs of government were trying to divert and re-loot our "Stolen Benin Artefacts cum Deities" that were meant to be returned to our Great Oba of Benin KINGDOM?

"Where have been their voice in the marginalization of the Benins by the Oil and Gas Exploration Companies by way of employments and meeting their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to the Benin people?

"Where have been their voice in all the anti Benin policies by the State Government in the last decade?

"We also want to state that members of the Benin Solidarity Movement BSM Worldwide will no longer fold their hands and watch charlatans and political swindlers parade outdated politicians who have no value to add to the lives of the Benin people speak on behalf of the people of Benin KINGDOM. It will be highly RESISTED by all means possible", the statement warned.

Edo State Anti- Cultism Taskforce Arrests 11 Suspects, to Face Prosecution

The Edo State Special Anti-Cultism Task Force  on Wednesday in Benin City, the Edo State capital, paraded 11 persons suspected to be involved in cultitism in the State, pointing out that the operation that led to their arrest is giving effect to the attainment of the Edo State guidelines of zero tolerance for cults and cultism  related crimes in the state adding that more would be done within the ambit of the law to stamp out cultism from the state such that there would not be any hiding place for cultists in the state. Edo 2024: Consensus Christian Leaders Forum Holds Prayer Session

By Lucky Isibor Ahead the Edo State 2024 governorship election, the Consensus Christian Leaders Forum (CCLF) is to hold a prayer session on Saturday, 10 February to seek the face of God to lead Edo people aright to choose a God fearing Governor on 21 September.
