Airiavbere Congratulates Omokhodion on Appointment as Commissioner

An Edo State born Nigerian in the Diaspora, Mr. Joseph Airiavbere, has congratulated the Edo State Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Arc. Joshua Omokhodion on his appointment as a Commissioner and member of the Edo State Executive Council by Edo State Governor, His Excellency Mr Godwin Obaseki.

In a congratulatory message he signed and made available to newsmen in Benin City, Mr. Airiavbere described Arc. Joshua Omokhodion as a grassroot politician who's in constant touch with his people and urged him to use his new office in the resolution of issues of environment confronting Edo State.


"On behalf of my entire family, I want to warmly congratulate Arc. Joshua Omokhodion on his appointment and swearing in as Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability by the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

"As a grassroot politician with good standing in your community, I have no doubt that you'll use your new office to affect the lives of Edo people positively especially now that our environment is threatened by a lot of natural and man made phenomenon, such as erosion, indiscriminate dumping of refuse, forest degradation and climate change. 

"The experience you have garnered over the years as an architect who have participated in the planning and execution of various high ticket projects and development practitioner, will be invaluable in the discharge of your duties as Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability.

"While thanking Governor Godwin Obaseki for finding you worthy of this appointment, I wish to assure the new Commissioner of the support of Edo people in the Diaspora, just as I appeal for support of our people for Hon. Joshua Omokhodion in the discharge of his duties as Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability", the statement appealed.

Edo State Anti- Cultism Taskforce Arrests 11 Suspects, to Face Prosecution

The Edo State Special Anti-Cultism Task Force  on Wednesday in Benin City, the Edo State capital, paraded 11 persons suspected to be involved in cultitism in the State, pointing out that the operation that led to their arrest is giving effect to the attainment of the Edo State guidelines of zero tolerance for cults and cultism  related crimes in the state adding that more would be done within the ambit of the law to stamp out cultism from the state such that there would not be any hiding place for cultists in the state. The taskforce headed by the Department of State Services (DSS) was created by the Governor Obaseki-led state government in response to increasing cult killings which had claimed many youthful lives across the state. Edo 2024: Consensus Christian Leaders Forum Holds Prayer Session

By Lucky Isibor Ahead the Edo State 2024 governorship election, the Consensus Christian Leaders Forum (CCLF) is to hold a prayer session on Saturday, 10 February to seek the face of God to lead Edo people aright to choose a God fearing Governor on 21 September. In a release by the leader of CCLF, Archbishop Fred Aghedo stated that the prayer session with the theme "Where is Edo of our dream", and called on Edo people to join the group in the prayers to seek the face of God and pray for the realisation of the Edo of our dream.
