Edo 2024: Edo North Traditional Rulers Rebuff Esan Enijie's Plea

By Lucky Isibor

Traditional rulers from Edo North Senatorial District of Edo State have rebuffed the entreaties of Esan Enijie to support an Edo State governorship candidate of Esan extraction ahead the state 2024 governorship election, affirming their support for one of their own.
An anonymous source at the meeting told Newscurve that the traditional rulers from Edo North thanked their colleagues from Edo Central but informed them bluntly that their son, Comrade Philip Shaibu who is currently the Deputy Governor already informed them that he is interested in joining the governorship race slated for next year, adding that they'll reciprocate their visit soon to seek their support for him.

The Onojie of, Zaiki Anselm Edenojie, while speaking with journalists on the essence of the visit, said the visit was premised on the need for fairness, equity and justice, pointing out that it is the turn of Edo Central to produce the next governor of the state.

We were in Edo North to consult with our brothers and colleagues, traditional rulers to support the cause of having Edo Central producing the next governor, we were well received, but they also told us that they have their own candidate.

“You know, politics is all about interests and negotiations, but we have a good cause, which is justice, equity and fairness and we believe at some point they will see reasons with us and appreciate the need for us to dwell together as a family in the state with equitable sharing of positions, responsibilities and governance.

“As I said, we will continue to talk to our brothers from other senatorial zones.”
