By Newscurve

A group of Edo Labour Party members, the Concerned Patriots of Labour Party have condemned the suspension of the party's candidate for Orhionmwon/ Uhumode Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections, Murphy Imasuen describing it as a conspiracy by some officials of the Edo chapter of Labour Party to thwart and the diligent prosecution of the candidate's petition pending before the Edo State Election Petitions Tribunal.
In a statement by the Concerned Patriots of Labour Party signed by its Acting state chairman, Ehiwe Ikuoyemwen, the Legal Adviser, I. P. Igbuan (Esq), Secretary, Comrade Blessing Agho and Publicity Secretary, Jegede Idemudia, called on the general public to ignore what he called the rumoured suspension of Murphy Imasuen, Blessing Agho and two others from Labour Party, describing it as a grand design to divert attention from the criminal substitution of Murphy Imasuen as the candidate for Orhionmon Uhumode Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election with another candidate, Hon. Elizabeth Ativie, which the Supreme Court dismissed 30 May, and affirmed Murphy Imasuen as the duly nominated Labour Party candidate for the election.

The Edo State chapter of Labour Party had last week suspended Murphy Imasuen, Blessing Agho and two others for anti-party activities.

Reacting further to the suspension, the group presented to the media, correspondence between the Solicitors of Murphy Imasuen, K. O. Obamogie &Co and the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on the affidavit submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to substitute Murphy Imasuen with Hon. Elizabeth Ativie which he said the court described as forged.

"Hon. Murphy Paul Imasuen has the right to join any political party of his choice at any time. He joined the Labour Party and met with the requirements to be candidate of the party. Despite the distractions and with no financial contribution from the leadership of the party, Murphy Imasuen mobilized his good will and spent his resources to organize the party to victory in the House of Representatives election in Orhionmwon/Uhumwode Federal Constituency.

"Hon. Murphy Paul Imasuen is a victorious, loyal and dedicated member /leader of Labour Party in Nigeria. The rhetoric and criminal misinformation of his suspension cannot alter the fact that these delinquents are no longer members of Labour Party and have no locus to make any pronouncement concerning the affairs of Labour Party in Nigeria ".

Replying to the letter of enquiry from Murphy Imasuen's Solicitors which was signed by Mrs. Annah Okunrobo, dated 3 November, 2022, for K. O. Obamogie & Co; Lawal Funmilola, Director, Commissioner for Oaths Department, Office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja who signed the reply dated 8 November, 2022 states that "Your letter dated 3rd November, 2022 in respect of the above subject matter refers.
"I write to inform you that a careful investigation conducted by the Court in respect of attached copy of of voluntary withdrawal bearing the name of Imasuen Paul Murphy dated 8th July, 2022 revels that the document was not sworn before a Commissioner for Oath in this Court because there is no name of the Commissioner for Oath on the said document and also there is no revenue receipt number", the letter concluded.

The group then urged the general public and members of Labour Party to ignore the antics of those who purport to have suspended Murphy Imasuen and others from Labour Party.
