Commissioner Lauds Edo Youths for Tree Planting

The Edo State Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Arc. Joshua Omokhodion has commended Edo youths under the aegis of Edo State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria for choosing to plant trees to commemorate the 2023 Youth Day.
The Commissioner who made the commendation during the tree planting exercise organised by Edo youths in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainability to mark this year's Youth Day, noted that the youths are the pivot on which the development of any nation revolves around, adding that their contributions to nation building cannot be over emphasised.
While commending the Youth Council for the initiative to plant trees, as part of measures to mitigate the negative impact if climate change, green the environment and beautify the state as envisioned by Governor Godwin Obaseki in his Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) agenda, Arc. Omokhodion pointed out that Edo State Government has provided opportunities in all the sectors of the economy to support the youth in achieving their dreams as they are of utmost importance to the present administration.
The Commissioner described the Obaseki led administration as one which is passionate about youths being green ambassadors and is willing to engage them in various spheres of governance by creating the enabling environment for them to contribute their quota to the development of the state.
In his remarks, the Consultant, Parks and Garden Department, TPL Roland Olorogun lauded youths for the tree planting exercise, describing it as a right step in the right direction towards actualizing the plans of government to green and regenerate the environment for sustainability and address the issue of climate change.
The chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State chapter, Mr. Moses Agwinede appreciated the Ministry for providing the necessary logistics to ensure a hitch free exercise.
The International Youth Day which is celebrated on the 12th of August every year aims at bringing issues confronting the youth to the attention of the international community and celebrating the potentials of youth as partners in the global society.
