Edo 2024: I'll Bridge Gap Between Rich and Poor- Maureen Ekhoragbon-Ero

Ahead of the Edo State 2024 governorship election, a gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Maureen Ekhoragbon-Ero (JP) has appealed to Edo people to give her their support to emerge the Governor of the state, promising to formulate policies and programmes that will bridge the gap between the rich and the poor and usher in an era of peace.
Hon. Maureen Ekhoragbon-Ero (JP) who is a former Vice-chairman of Ovia North-East Local Government Council, stated this at Ugbogiobo, Isiuwa ward of  Ovia North-East, while declaring her intentions to seek the APC nomination to contest the 2024 governorship election.
Hon. Maureen Ekhoragbon-Ero (JP) is from Isiuwa ward in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

She assured the people that she will create a social equilibrium between all classes of people to enable everyone to live a decent life.

To achieve these her lofty objectives, she promised to focus on education - free education - tourism, women and youth development and provide the infrastructural facilities that will facilitate the people's self actualisation.

While urging members of her ward to  avail her the needed support, Hon. Maureen Ekhoragbon-Ero who is a lecturer in the Department of Physics at the University of Benin, assured them that she will be a good ambassador of the ward and would not disappoint them if given the opportunity to govern Edo State.

"I'll not disappoint you. I'll build a bridge between the rich and the poor, I'll create an equilibrium, a middle between the rich and the poor. That is my mission. We'll diversify our economy and bring everybody on board.

"I will focus on education, because education is the bedrock of development of any nation. I'll bring free education. If Prof. Ambrose Alli was able to bring free education as Governor of Bendel State, we can also do it, it is possible. Education will be free from primary school to senior secondary school, SSS3.

"Education is the hope of the common man, when you have education you'll never be poor again. Every Edo child that has the will must go to school, whether the parents are rich or poor.

"We will direct our attention to knowledge economy, like Japan did when they were going downhill, they ensured their people went to school".

While highlighting how to empower the youth and women, the governorship hopeful said, "We will engage the youths so that they will not be idle.
"We will engage the youths in the formation of our policies and programmes because our youths have intellect, they have ability, they have talents, they have intelligence. As a lecturer in Physics at the University of Benin, I can attest to their endowments.

"We will remodel our markets to create a conducive atmosphere for women to trade. Support me and let me creat wealth in the hands of everybody to make the people happy. If Comrade Adams Oshiomhole can make Edo people happy, we can do it and make them happy again".

On how she will be leveraging tourism to empower the people, she has this to say, "I will harness our tourism potentials to develop Edo State. Edo State is a great nation. There are a lot of tourists centres in Edo State that are under utilised. We will use tourism to build our economy like several nations are doing".

Hon. Maureen Ekhoragbon-Ero also promised a robust relationship between her government and the APC party structure at all levels adding, "The party structure will not be left behind. I will take care of the party structure and bring everybody together".

In his remarks, the APC chairman, Isiuwa ward, Ovia North-East Local Government Area, Hon. Jonathan Osatohamwen assured Hon. Maureen Ekhoragbon-Ero of the unalloyed support and buy-in of all APC members in the ward, including the men, women and youths as they all see her as someone who is coming to remove the entire Isiuwa ward out of darkness.

Maureen Ekhoragbon-Ero all the support she needs to excel in the governorship race, noting that she is an intellectual with the requisite capacity to deliver on any given assignment adding that she'll give a good account of herself if given the opportunity to govern Edo State as Governor.

Hon. Maureen Ekhoragbon-Ero was the Executive Secretary, Rapid Response Agency during Comrade Adams Oshiomhole's administration. She used that position to change the face of road maintenance in Edo and tarred new streets and alleys in Benin City and other major towns in the state.
A woman who's well entrenched in grassroots politics and an exponent of youth and women mobilisation, Hon. Maureen Ekhoragbon-Ero is also a one time vice-chairman of Ovia North-East Local Government Area. While serving in that position, she again distinguished herself and became the face of that administration at the grassroot level.
