Edo Market Women Urged to Take Ownership of Their Environment

Market women in Edo State have been called upon to continue to support Governor Godwin Obaseki's efforts to achieve a cleaner and green Edo and make the state one of the cleanest in the country.
The Edo State Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Arc Joshua Omokhodion who made the appeal while meeting with Edo State Market Women Association in his office admonished the women on the imperative of taking ownership of their environment by engaging in keeping their environment clean to guarantee a healthy life for them, adding that it is one of Governor Obaseki's desire to finish well by bequeath a healthy safe environment for the people.
While urging the market women to deploy their motherly love and care to mobilise their colleagues to take charge of their environment and keep it clean, the Commissioner said: "women as mothers play a significant role in instilling discipline especially on environmental sanitation as part of home training and that is why I called you, not to relent in your efforts to have a clean market’’
Responding on behalf of the Edo State Market Women Association, president of the association, Mrs. Blacky Omoregie lauded the Commissioner for his efforts to ensure cleaner markets for Edo people and assured of the cooperation of the market women in that regard.
She appealed to the Governor to ensure proper enforcement of sanitation laws when defaulters are apprehended.
