The Edo State chapter of Labour Party has passed a vote of confidence on Labour Party national chairman, Julius Abure (Esq) and chairman of the Edo State chapter of the party, Mr. Kelly Ogbaloi, urging the public to disregard what it called the antics of internet rats.
The publicity secretary of the Edo State chapter of Labour Party,  Comrade Samson Uruokpa who stated this while releasing the communique issued by the party at the end of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting of the party held 29 August in Benin City, also deplored the misinterpretation of the Court of Appeal judgement by some of those he said have been suspended or expelled from the party.

According to the communique, "Haven reviewed the activities of the Party vis a vis the imminent local government elections and other matters worthy of concerns the Party Executive Committee resolves as below.

"That the State Executive Committee reaffirmed that Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi KSE IION is the substantive Chairman of our great Party added to this is that the disoriented fugitive Mr. Okukpe and other internet rats should be wholly disregarded as there has been no changes in the Party administrative hierarchy at the State.

"The State Executive council also urge the public to disregard the luciferous manipulations of the appeal court judgement by some dissidents parading themselves around the State as members of Labour Party. We further inform these ones have since been suspended from the membership of the Labour Party. We therefore have again pass an explicit confidence  on our National Chairman Barr. Julius Abure as the substantive National Chairman of our great party.

"Exco reviewed the Federal Government Palliative of five Billion Naira to cushion the effect of the severe hardship the recent increase in petroleum products and described it as an attempt to deceive the Nigeria people by the APC led Government. It is ridiculous that the APC Government whose position itself is such insensitive manner to the people is set to govern. What is the rationality in withdrawing the fuel subsidy and given palliative to about 12 million Nigerian families than repairing the refineries that are currently in comatose?

"EXCO expressed its profound gratitude to the people of Edo State in the support they deployed to Labour Party during the immediate Past Elections. I wish to say that those who were elected via their push have since resumed in their various offices and position. They were clearly elected by only the efforts of Edo people and Labour Party. Our respect and appreciation is at the door steps of people of Edo State and not the government – led by the PDP in Edo State".

While stating its resolve to contest the Saturday, 2 September Edo State Local Government election, the communique emphasised that the party is participating in the election and appealed to all its supporters to come enmasse to vote the party candidates.

"Labour Party reviewed all its plans and strategies for the local government elections earnestly holding on Saturday 2nd September 2023 and inform the public, teaming Supporters of Labour Party, support Groups, Leaders and Elders of the Party that we are fully prepare for the elections. This clarification is made to discountenance the rumours and insinuations that Labour Party would boycott the elections. The Labour Party candidates are sponsored on the platform of the Party and not the PDP Government in Edo State or any other Party.

"That in the elections of 2nd September, 2023 Labour Party insists EDSIEC must stick to its words and promises that level play ground will be provided for all political parties participating in the elections.

"o this end therefore any attempt to manipulate the process in any form will be resisted vehemently by Labour Party and Edo people. Following this position of ours as law abiding citizens of Nigeria the Security agencies at the State and Local Government are advised to stick their guards as the elections commences.

"State Executive Council have concretely been informed that the elections of 2nd September 2023 will be faced with debilitating security challenges that will be imported from Lands unknown and introduced to the elections to bring to fruition the evil desires of some top persons in the political community of Edo State. This is reported again to the Security agencies to investigate and fore stall its  realization.

"We commend our teaming supporters and asked them to come out undeterred on Saturday the 2nd September, 2023 to vote the candidates of Labour Party at their various locations as all manners of threats will be acutely addressed".
