Medical Women Association Salutes Igbinedion at 90

The Edo State chapter of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria MWAN has felicitated with the Esama of Benin Kingdom and Honorary Romanian Consul to Edo and Delta States, Sir, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion on the occasion of his 90th birthday celebration. 


In a congratulatory message signed by the President of the Edo State chapter of the association, Dr. Irene Akhideno described Chief Igbinedion as a shining inspiration to Edo people and humanity in general. 

While appreciating the Esama's contributions to the association as its patron, the statement noted that Chief Igbinedion's commitment to the development and preservation of our culture and heritage has left indelible footprint on our community.

"Your remarkable achievements in the advancement of Medicine with the IUO Medical school and Teaching hospital, and philanthropic endeavors have touched the lives of countless individuals, bringing hope and empowerment to those in need especially women, children and vulnerable persons. Your dedication to education, healthcare, and various community initiatives has transformed countless lives and paved the way for a brighter future".

Edo State Anti- Cultism Taskforce Arrests 11 Suspects, to Face Prosecution

The Edo State Special Anti-Cultism Task Force  on Wednesday in Benin City, the Edo State capital, paraded 11 persons suspected to be involved in cultitism in the State, pointing out that the operation that led to their arrest is giving effect to the attainment of the Edo State guidelines of zero tolerance for cults and cultism  related crimes in the state adding that more would be done within the ambit of the law to stamp out cultism from the state such that there would not be any hiding place for cultists in the state. The taskforce headed by the Department of State Services (DSS) was created by the Governor Obaseki-led state government in response to increasing cult killings which had claimed many youthful lives across the state.
